Today we returned to the caves for a scheduled guided tour at 10am. The caverns are mostly self guided but this particular tour was ranger guided of areas not accesible to the general public. We had a group of about 50 people and the tours took us way down to the furthest ares of the caves. We visited A section called the King and Queen’s chambers. The picture above was taken there
After the guided tour and lunch, we went right back up to the top and reentered the caves through its natural entry place . A four mile walk down into the abyss.
Let me stop here to say that words cannot convey the enormity and beauty of the rock formations within these caves. Think of multiple medieval cathedrals stitched together, and you may come close to the interior expanse of these caves. So I just leave this entries with pictures.
Great Pictures. It’s amazing that the cowboy that discovered the cave and led to its becoming a tourist attraction survived his plunge into the darkness.
